Palate surgery for snoring
Palatal radiofrequency
Radiofrequency surgery of the palate is indicated for treating patients with simple snoring and upper airway resistance.
A small needle is inserted in the soft palate, which transmits controlled stimuli to the surrounding area. This causes stiffening and loss of volume of the treated tissues, thus diminishing snoring.
This procedure is done under local anesthesia and sedation in an office environment. Most patients require 2-3 treatments to obtain the expected results.
Also, performing the procedure over 3 minor treatments greatly diminishes post-operative complications and allows the clinician to gauge tissue response to the treatment.
