The soft palate and tonsils are associated to snoring and sleep apnea. Many treatments are available to treat problematic palates, including radiofrequency surgery and palatal implants.
These procedures can be done under local anesthesia and sedation, in the office. Other procedures like pharyngoplasties and uvulopalatopharyngoplasties are usually done under general anesthesia. No procedure is necessarily better than another. Each patient will be evaluated in great detail and will be offered the adequate surgery for his situation.
